Trigram or Floor Pattern (Yeon-Mu): Keon


I Ching interpretation: The symbol represents Keon and means Sky or Heaven. It is the base for the Cosmos.


Taegeuk interpretation: Heaven and Light


Taegeuk philosophy: This is the concept of pure Yang. It is where everything originates, the creative force of the Cosmos. Taegeuk IL Chang is the most basic Taegeuk form or Taekwondo. It is where the student’s nature associates with Heaven and Light. It is the beginning, the creation of a new foundation. 


Practical application: This form consists of fundamental movements such as walking stance, low block, high block, inside block, middle punch, and front kick. It helps a practitioner build a solid base for more complex techniques. This form is for the 8th Gup. There are 18 movements, kiap is at the end on the step #18.
